Andreas Aagesen

Andreas Aagesen (born August 5, 1826 in Copenhagen ; † October 26, 1879 there ) was a Danish lawyer .

Life

Andreas Aagesen attended a school in Christianshavn and studied law at the University of Copenhagen from 1843 , but interrupted his university education in 1848 to take part in the Schleswig-Holstein survey , in which served as leader of a reserve battalion. In 1855 he became Professor of Jurisprudence at the University of Copenhagen. In 1870 he was appointed a member of the commission responsible for drafting the law of the sea and the commercial code; and the right of navigation of 1882 is chiefly his work. In 1879 he joined the Landsting as a member of parliament, the first chamber of the Reichstag. He gained his reputation mainly through his achievements as a university professor. He succeeded Carl Christian Hall as a lecturer in Roman law , and in this area his research was groundbreaking.
