Wolfgang Steimels (born March 22, 1956 in Cologne ) is a German lawyer . He was President of the Federal Language Office from 2008 to 2017 .

Life

After studying law at the University of Cologne and completing his legal clerkship in North Rhine-Westphalia, Steimels was a legal advisor and military disciplinary attorney at the former Army Office in Cologne from 1989 to 1991 . Then Steimels worked as a law teacher at the Technical School of the Army / Technical School for Army Technology (TSH / FSHT) in Aachen. From 1991 to 2008 Steimels was in the Federal Ministry of Defense (BMVg) in Bonnactive. There, Steimels was initially involved as a consultant on the service law of soldiers, and later on advising civilian personnel. In 1996 he became personal assistant to the head of the HR department in the Federal Ministry of Defense and in 1998 personal assistant to the head of staff, social and central affairs in the Federal Ministry of Defense in Bonn. From 2000 Steimels was head of department for training and further education - principle and recruiting (civilian staff), then for personnel processing for other specialist services and disciplinary matters. From 2006 to 2008, Steimels was in charge of the fundamental issues department of the language service and the BMVg interpreting service.

From February 2008 Steimels was President of the Federal Language Office, in March 2017 he was retired.

During his service, Steimels was at times co-editor of the legal loose-leaf collection "Soldiers Participation Act" and the magazine Bundeswehrverwaltung . He is married and lives in Pulheim .
