NGC 2716 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble-type SB0 / a in the constellation Water Snake south of the ecliptic . It is an estimated 158 million light years from the Milky Way and about 60,000 light years in diameter .
The galaxies NGC 2713 , NGC 2723 , IC 2426 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on March 3, 1864 by the astronomer Albert Marth with a 48 cm telescope.
