NGC 2706 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sbc in the constellation Hydra south of the celestial equator . It is estimated 66 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 35,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 2697 , NGC 2698 , NGC 2699 , NGC 2709 , among others .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on February 27, 1886 .
