NGC 2724 is a faint barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBc in the constellation of the lynx in the northern sky . It is an estimated 143 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 75,000 light years in diameter.
The galaxies NGC 2719 and PGC 25284 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by John Herschel on February 7, 1832 .
