NGC 2735 is a barred spiral galaxy of Hubble type SBb / P in the constellation Cancer, the 107 million light-years from an estimated Milky Way is removed. Together with the closely neighboring second galaxy NGC 2735A , it forms the galaxy pair Arp 287 . Halton Arp organized his catalog of unusual galaxies into groups according to purely morphological criteria. This galaxy pair belongs to the class galaxies with wind effects .
The object was discovered by Édouard Stephan on February 26, 1878 , and is listed in the New General Catalog .
