NGC 2718 is a barred spiral galaxy with a high rate of star formation of the Hubble type SBab in the constellation Water Snake south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 166 million light years from the Milky Way and about 105,000 ly in diameter.
The object was discovered on March 24, 1786 by the astronomer William Herschel with a 48 cm telescope.
