NGC 2697 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Hydra south of the ecliptic . It is an estimated 74 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 40,000 ly.

The object was discovered by Bindon Blood Stoney on January 24, 1851 .
