NGC 2758 is a barred spiral galaxy with large-scale star formation from Hubble type SBBC in the constellation Hydra south of the celestial equator . It is estimated to be 79 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 40,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 2754 , NGC 2757 , IC 2436 , IC 2437 .
The object was discovered by the astronomer Frank Muller at the Leander McCormick Observatory in 1886 .
