NGC 2749 is an elliptical galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type E3 in the constellation Cancer on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 183 million light years from the Milky Way and about 90,000 light years across.
The galaxies NGC 2745 , NGC 2747 , NGC 2751 , NGC 2752 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on March 5, 1862 by Heinrich Louis d'Arrest .
