NGC 2779 is a lenticular dwarf galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 / a in the constellation Lynx in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 93 million light years from the Milky Way and about 20,000 light years across.

The object was discovered on March 13, 1850 by George Johnstone Stoney .
