Wolfgang Straub

Wolfgang Straub (* 1969 in Waiblingen ) is a Swiss lawyer and photographer .

biography

Both parents studied art history. His father Rolf E. Straub was a professor at the Stuttgart Art Academy .

Legal activity

Wolfgang Straub studied law at the Universities of Basel, Bern and Geneva. He has been a lawyer in Bern since 1996. In addition, he published numerous publications in the field of intellectual property law and IT law and taught at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Friborg (Switzerland) .

Photographic activity

At the age of fourteen, Straub received his first camera from a great uncle - a Leica I , the first series-produced 35mm camera from 1925. This marked the beginning of an intensive occupation with photography under the guidance of his father.

Straub works in thematic series. The surrealist still life series Le dictionnaire des illphabètes , created from 1993 onwards, looked for visual evidence of the paradox. The pictures were published in magazines in Europe, Asia, North and South America and Australia.

At the end of the 1990s, Straub began to deal systematically with gardens. The series of pictures Enchanted Gardens was created in 2000 . They are tableau-like, monochrome depictions of English landscape gardens in Germany. It deals with the metamorphosis of ideas across different artistic forms of expression.

Works by Wolfgang Straub are represented in various private and public collections.
