Wolfgang Sykorra

Wolfgang Felix Sykorra (* 1945 ) is a German Romanist , Anglicist and non-fiction author .

Life

Sykorra grew up in an industrial area in Essen - Bergeborbeck and attended the Borbeck grammar school from 1955 to 1964 .

He then studied Romance and English at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn and at the University of Dijon . Stays in Paris and London followed . His doctoral thesis on Dr. phil. On the subject of Friedrich Diez's Etymological Dictionary of Romance Languages ​​and its sources , he submitted it to the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Bonn in 1973. In 1974 he moved with his wife to the Schönebeck district of Essen , where, in addition to his professional activity as a high school teacher in various functions at school, university and district government, he was also chairman of the SPD local association from 1980 to 1998 . In addition to environmental protection, the integration of people with disabilities into school and society has always been a concern of his. From 1987 until his retirement in 2006 he was director of the Borbeck grammar school .

Sykorra publishes works and articles on linguistics and literary studies as well as on the social and regional history of the Ruhr area.
