Wolfgang Temmel

Wolfgang Temmel (* 1953 in Deutschlandsberg ) is an Austrian multimedia artist.

Career

Temmel studied painting in Graz, stayed for a long time in New York and London and now lives in western Styria. He works with different media and art forms, such as painting, drawing, photography, installation, video, sound and music. Temmel's works are now in public and private ownership.

Temmel took part in national and international exhibitions and festivals with his visual, acoustic and olfactory works (Austria - Ars Electronica , Albertina , steirischer herbst , Wiener Festwochen , Slovenia, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Hungary, Germany, England, France, Sweden) . In the 1980s and 1990s he worked on audio pieces for ORF-Kunstradio (e.g. radio tunnel for the Berlin radio play days). From 2003 to 2014 Temmel had a teaching position on the information design course at the FH Joanneum .

His most important art projects include the project sinnlos , which came about as part of the 2003 cultural capital of Graz , and the world music project The Bonsai Garden Orchestra , realized in 2008 , which made it onto the long list for the best world music newcomer production of the Grammy with its debut album Take One in 2008 Awards . The formation performed at the Glatt & Verkehrt World Music Festival in Krems an der Donau in 2009 . In 2013 Temmel initiated the fundraising campaign 22,000 per Fedo . Since spring 2015 Temmel has been working on his current band project Lenins Wheelchair on the second album, which is due to appear in 2015/16.
