Wolfgang Tiemann (born December 24, 1952 in Eickhorst , Minden district ) is a German artist .

Life

After training as a color lithographer, Tiemann studied art from 1974 to 1978 at the then Hanover University of Applied Sciences in the field of fine arts and then from 1978 to 1982 at the Braunschweig University of Fine Arts . He finished his studies as a master student and then worked alongside teaching assignments a. a. at the Hanover University as a freelance artist. Tiemann lives and works in Kirchwehren near Hanover.

The art action Paperroads, in which Tiemann followed the old way of paper production and the passing on of his manufacturing secrets from Asia (Samarkand and Shanghai) via the Islamic world (Syria) and Spain to Europe on the Silk Road from 2001 to 2007, and extensive areas there He exhibited and produced prints and pictures, left behind a wealth of works and had a lasting impact on the painter's work and his reception.

The cycle Floating Land (2012–2017) deals with the landscape, nature and earth threatened by human politics in works with strong colors and shapes, in which the transition into abstraction is fluid.
