Wolfgang Urban

Wolfgang Urban (born August 26, 1945 in Oberbaumgarten / Silesia ) is a German economic manager . Most recently he was CEO of KarstadtQuelle AG from 2000 to 2004

Wolfgang Urban is a trained toolmaker. He studied business administration on his second education path and graduated with a degree in business administration (FH).

He started his career in 1973 at Kaufhof AG in the accounting department in Cologne. In 1987 he was appointed to the Board of Directors of Kaufhof AG, where he held various positions. Most recently he was CEO of Kaufhof Holding AG . During his time at Kaufhof Holding AG, he was in charge of the expansion and acquisition of various companies such as B. Media Markt and Saturn were involved, which were then taken over into the newly created METRO Group.

In 1996 he led the newly formed METRO AG Group as spokesman for the board , of which he was also a founding member.

In October 2000, Wolfgang Urban became CEO of KarstadtQuelle AG . "For health reasons" he cleared his desk early in May 2004, drawing the conclusions from the different views between himself and the shareholders about the future structure of the company.

During his career, Wolfgang Urban was chairman / spokesman for three DAX companies .

His partner is the multiple Olympic and world champion in dressage Isabell Werth , with whom he has a son.
