Wolfgang Weber (racing driver)

Wolfgang Weber (born October 24, 1965 ) is a German racing car driver , driving instructor, entrepreneur and book author.

Racing career

Wolfgang Weber began his motorsport career in 1989 as a Toyota Starlet co-driver in rallying. From 1990 he entered an Opel Ascona B in rally races. He won the Mitropa Rally Cup in 1992 with a BMW M3 and in 1995 with a Ford Escort RS Cosworth .

In 1998 he switched to circuit racing and competed in the VLN endurance championship Nürburgring , Rundstrecken-Challenge Nürburgring (RCN) and the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring . In 2006 he won several races in the RCN with a Honda S2000 GT in the SP3 class and was able to celebrate a total of ten class wins in his RCN missions.

In 2012 he finished third in the VLN, his best result of the season in this racing series.

In 2007 Weber was able to place seventh in a RUF-Porsche RGT in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring . He achieved his best result in the 24-hour race with the Mathol Racing team in 2012 in an Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT4 with second place in the SP10 GT4 class. In 2018 he drove a Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport from the Mathol Racing team to seventh place in the Cup3 class in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring.

In 2009 and 2010 Weber started in the FIA GT4 European Cup . In 2009 he raced the KTM X-Bow in two races in the Supersports class and finished seventh there. The following season he drove an Aston Martin V8 Vantage N24 to 12th place in the GT4 classification.

Professional career

Wolfgang Weber lives in Vilshofen and has been working as a driving instructor for sports drivers and in road safety training for car and motorcycle drivers since 1990. From 1996 to 2001 he was a test driver at RUF . Since 2006 he has also been working as a coach for supermoto sports .

From 2008 to 2014 he ran a workshop and rental shop for electric motorcycles. The rental business was discontinued in 2014 and instead switched to trading in electric motorcycles.

Weber wrote a book about chassis settings and setups that was published by Motorbuch-Verlag.
