Wolfgang Weiermann

Wolfgang Weiermann (born September 8, 1935 in Dortmund ) is a German trade unionist and politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After attending elementary school, Weiermann completed an apprenticeship as a machine fitter and then worked in the Phoenix plant of Hoesch Stahl AG . In addition, he was a union member, joined IG Metall in 1951 and had been a member of the workers' welfare organization since 1969 . He became a member of the works council at Hoesch-Phoenix in 1972 and was chairman of the works council there from 1982 to 1987.

Political party

Weiermann has been a member of the SPD since 1955. From 1991 to 1997 he was deputy chairman of the Dortmund sub-district and since 1989 chairman of the working group for employee issues of the SPD in the district of Western Westphalia .

MP

Weiermann was a council member for the city of Dortmund from 1969 to 1987. He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1987 to 2002. In parliament he represented the constituency of Dortmund II . In the mid-1990s he was a member of the Bundestag Committee on Economics and Technology.
