Wolfhard Möller (born November 16, 1944 in Barkhausen , Westphalia ) is a German physicist .

Life

Wolfhard Möller studied physics in Göttingen , Munich and Bochum. He received his doctorate from the Ruhr University Bochum in 1975 and was there, with a two-year break (a research stay at the University of Aarhus in Denmark ), until 1980 as a research assistant. From 1981 to 1993 he was a research assistant and from 1987 project manager at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics in Garching. During this time he completed his habilitation in 1982 and was appointed adjunct professor at the University of Bochum in 1988.

From 1993 to 2010 he was director of the Institute for Ion Beam Physics and Materials Research at the Research Center Dresden-Rossendorf (today Helmholtz Center Dresden-Rossendorf ) and Professor for Ion Beam Physics at the Technical University of Dresden .

Research priorities

  • Ion beam analysis
  • Ion beam modification of metals and semiconductors
  • ion and plasma supported layer deposition
  • Plasma-wall interaction
  • Plasma immersion ion implantation and computer simulation of the ion-solid interaction and the ion-assisted layer deposition
