Wolfram Trudo Knoefel

Wolfram Trudo Knoefel (* 1962 in Tübingen ) is a German surgeon. Since 2003 he has held the chair for general and visceral surgery at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf and director of Surgical Clinic A (general, visceral, thoracic and pediatric surgery) at the University Hospital Düsseldorf. 

Career

Knoefel studied medicine at the University of Hamburg, the Université de Lausanne , the Harvard Medical School / Boston and the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. After obtaining his license to practice medicine, Knoefel worked at the Surgical Clinic of the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich (LMU), the Massachusetts General Hospital, the Harvard Medical School and the Surgical Clinic of the Eppendorf University Medical Center in Hamburg. In 1993 he made his surgery specialist. In 1996 he completed his habilitation on the subject of "Microcirculation disorders in acute inflammation of the pancreas". In 2003, Knoefel was appointed to the chair for general and visceral surgery at Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf. Knoefel has been a member of the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences and Arts since 2019 .
