The Wolfsgrüner Schlößchen is an Art Nouveau villa in Wolfsgrün , a district of the town of Eibenstock in the Erzgebirge district . The manor house, built in 1904 for the Bretschneider family of manufacturers, was designed by the architect Oswald Haenel .

description

The Wolfsgrüner Schlößchen is located in a park not far from the federal highway 283 . The foyer contains original wood paneling with carvings of classic Art Nouveau motifs. The stucco work on the ceilings and walls is also characterized by Art Nouveau motifs such as floral elements and hunting motifs.

history

After the Bretschneider family had opened a wood pulp and paper factory in the valley on the Zwickauer Mulde in the village of Wolfsgrün in the middle of the 19th century , they had their mansion built a little above the factory in 1904. After the Bretschneider family moved out, the building was used as a mothers' rest home for the National Socialist People's Welfare Association (NSV) until 1945 , which was also used as the German central archive for genealogy. After 1945 it was first the SED district school " Rosa Luxemburg " and then a holiday home, which was reserved for higher party officials and their families.

After the building was neglected after the fall of the Wall, it was bought and renovated by an investor in the mid-1990s. The house has been used as a hotel since 1994.
