The FK Volga Tver ( Russian ФК Волга Тверь ) is a football club founded in 1957 from the Russian city of Tver . The club has played in the 2nd division since being promoted again in 2003 .
history
The club was founded in 1957 as Volga Kalinin and played continuously in the third Soviet league from 1958 to 1991, but in 1963 they rose to the A2 class, the second division-wide league, as champions of the Russian class B (third division) on, but always played against relegation, which also took place after the 1970 season. In 1975 the club won the then lower class cup of the Russian SFSR . In 1990 the association changed its name to Volga Tver as part of the renaming of its hometown . Two years later the club was sold to an investor by the city of Tver. This gave the club the name Trion-Volga Tver ( Трион - Волга Тверь ). From now on, the team played in the newly formed second Russian league, the 1st division , but was relegated as the last. After relegation to the short-term fourth Russian semi-professional league ( 3rd division) , the city of Tver bought the club back in 1996 and reversed the name change; as the season runner-up, he was immediately promoted again.
In 1999 the class was not held and for the first time since the club was founded, the club was relegated from the (semi-) professional sector to the pure amateur sector. After four years in the amateur league , Golden Ring season , in 2003 he was promoted back to the third Russian division, 2nd division - West season , in which the club has been involved to date.
