Coordinates: 34 ° 5 '  S , 150 ° 26'  O Wollondilly Shire is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales . The area is 2,555.4 km² and has about 48,500 inhabitants.

Wollondilly is located in the region around the metropolis of Sydney, around 80 km southwest of the city center. The area comprises 41 hamlets and villages: Appin, Bargo, Bargo River, Belimbla Park, Brownlow Hill, Camden Park, Cataract Dam, Couridjah, Douglas Park, Glenmore, Lakesland, Linns Hill, Maldon, Menangle, Mowbray Park, Nattai, Nattai River , Oakdale, The Oaks, Orangeville, The Peaks, Pheasants Nest, Picton, Razorback, Scotts Hill, Silverdale, Tahmoor, Theresa Park, Thirlmere, Warragamba, Werombi, Werombi Road, Wilton, Yanderra and Yerranderie as well as parts of Buxton, Camden South, Cawdor, Mount Hunter, Wallacia, and Wallacia Heights. The seat of the Shire Council is in the town of Picton in the east of the LGA, where about 3,500 inhabitants live.

The Wollondilly Shire Council has nine members elected by the residents of the three wards (three each from North, East and Central Ward). These three districts are defined independently of the localities. The mayor of the council is also recruited from among the councilors.
