Women in Film and Television

Women in Film and Television ( WIFT ) is a network organization for women in the film, television and digital media industries . Film directors , screenwriters , film producers , film editors , editors , agents and actresses are represented at WIFT.

History and structure

The organization was founded in 1973 in Los Angeles , the local sub-organization Women in Film has been presenting the " Crystal + Lucy Awards " to outstanding women from the communications and media industry since 1977 .

In addition to the umbrella organization Women in Film and Television International ( WIFTI ), which was founded in 1997, there are 40 sub-organizations with more than 13,000 members.

WIFT in Germany

The German sub-organization Women in Film and Television Germany ( WIFT Germany ) was founded in 2005 as a registered association .

WIFT Germany organizes industry meetings, training courses and screenings in Berlin, Hamburg, Hanover, Cologne, Munich and Stuttgart and is represented with events at film festivals ( Berlinale , International Women's Film Festival Dortmund I Cologne , Filmfest Hamburg , Filmfest Munich , SoundTrack Cologne , Film Festival Cologne ).

The association campaigns for equality between women and men in the media industry and for the representation of differentiated roles of women and men in film and television. The network cooperates with Pro Quote Regie .
