Entrance to Woodbine Station

Woodbine is an underground subway station in Toronto . It is on the Bloor-Danforth Line of the Toronto Subway , at the intersection of Danforth Avenue and Woodbine Avenue. The station has side platforms and is used by an average of 14,380 passengers every day (2015). There are transfer options to three bus routes.

The station opened on February 26, 1966, along with the Keele - Woodbine section. Woodbine was the eastern terminus for a little over two years. Most of the tram along Danforth Avenue was shut down, but initially there was a short branch line to near the station. A new turning triangle was created on the adjacent Strathmore Boulevard.

To make access easier, the Toronto Transit Commission built a short connecting tunnel from the tram stop to the distribution level. Despite the great effort, this access did not last long. With the opening of the subway extension to Warden on May 11, 1968, the tram service on Danforth Avenue finally ended; the short tunnel has served as a storage room and lounge for the staff ever since.
