Coxwell (Toronto Subway)
Coxwell is an underground subway station in Toronto . It is on the Bloor-Danforth Line of the Toronto Subway , at the intersection of Danforth Avenue and Coxwell Avenue. The station, which has side platforms, is used by an average of 15,260 passengers every day (2015).
Nearby is the East York Civic Center, the town hall of the formerly independent city of East York . There are transfer options to three bus routes, with the turning area around the station building. The station opened on February 26, 1966, along with the Keele - Woodbine section .
From 2015 to 2017 the station was extensively renovated, rebuilt to make it accessible and artistically designed. The Coxwell Laneway Mosaic Mural , created by a group of artists, has been decorating the neighboring bus stop since October 2016 . The end of 2017 is in the distribution level , which consists of aluminum and mirrors mural Forwards and Backwards unveiled by Jennifer Davis and Jon Sasaki.
