Woodland Trust

The Woodland Trust is a UK non-profit environmental organization that works to create , protect and restore woodland in the UK. In 2006, the organization, founded in 1972, managed over 1,000 forests on more than 20,000 hectares of its own or leased land. In the same year 160,000 members were counted. All Woodland Trust serviced areas are open to the public.

The focus of the activities is the protection of old forests that were and are free from any management. Forests in this natural forest form only exist on 194,000 hectares in England , 27,000 hectares in Wales and 65,000 hectares in Scotland . In addition, the Woodland Trust promotes the conservation of biodiversity , reforestation and replanting of forest landscapes and projects that contribute to a deeper understanding of the flora and fauna in forests.
