criticism

The lawyer Peter Kehl, Halle (Saale) , criticized the operator in 2016 for handling cases of defamation and insult : “Automattic Inc. regularly refuses to accept German judgments for deletion. In the event of a violation of personal rights, there is currently hardly any possibility of having the judgments recognized in the USA. ”In February 2017, Kehl achieved partial success. The district court in Halle imposed a fine on Mullenweg and Schneider in the amount of 10,000 euros, as the management had refused to delete controversial allegations about a company. The decision of the 4th civil chamber of the regional court provides for ten days of detention as an alternative.

In March 2018, several hundred websites linked to terrorist organizations such as Islamic State or al-Qaida were found by Europol on Wordpress.com and Videopress.com. These site operators have been asked by Europol to delete these sites.
