Martin Frick

Martin Frick (born May 10, 1933 in Urach ) is a German meteorologist and writer. In addition to frequently translated and published introductions to meteorology, he wrote a fantastic novel.

Life

Frick studied physics, mathematics, chemistry, astronomy and art history at the Universities of Tübingen , Zurich and Bern and graduated as a qualified astronomer. From 1970 he worked as a physics teacher and lived temporarily in Berlingen TG . In 1973 he moved to Neu Sankt Jürgen near Worpswede .

His Wetterkunde: Introduction to Meteorology appeared in 1992 in its 14th edition. It was published by Readers Digest under the title Our Weather and has been translated into English, French and Spanish. He has also translated several popular science books on astronomy from English.

In 1969 he published the fantastic novel Patina , which tells the mystical love story of two people from the 15th century who arrive in a distant future on different paths - he through transmigration of souls , she through time dilation on board a spaceship that is almost as fast as light - where their love in one utopian society finds fulfillment on Titan . The novel is difficult to classify and includes elements of science fiction , utopia and occultism .
