Wordie Seamount

The Wordie Seamount is a deep-sea mountain on the Bransfield Strait between the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands and the northern tip of the Antarctic Peninsula . It is of volcanic origin and has a caldera .
The name, which has been recognized by the Advisory Committee for Undersea Features (ACUF) since August 2003, is named after the British polar explorer and geologist James Wordie (1889–1962), participant in the endurance expedition (1914–1917) of the British polar explorer Ernest Shackleton .
