Wu Hanxiong ( Chinese  吴汉雄 , Pinyin Wú Hànxióng ; born January 21, 1981 in Shantou ) is a former Chinese foil fencer .

Career

Wu Hanxiong won the gold medal with the team at the Asian Games in Busan in 2002 and in Doha in 2006 , and in 2002 he secured bronze in the individual. At the world championships he reached third place in the individual competition in Lisbon in 2002 , and the following year he became vice world champion with the team in Havana . At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , Wu and the Chinese team entered the battle for the gold medal after victories over South Korea and the United States . There the team lost to Italy with 42:45, so Wu won the silver medal. In the singles he lost to Salvatore Sanzo in the quarterfinals with 10:15 and finished in seventh place.
