Wonderful Planet (Chikyū Daikikō) is a 12-part Japanese documentary series that deals with the evolutionary history of the earth. The series was produced by the Japanese television company NHK . Cooperation partners were Antenne 2 (France), Korean Broadcasting System (South Korea), KCTS Association (USA), TNC Channel Nine (Australia), RAI (Italy), TV Espanola (Spain), Veronica Omroep (Netherlands) and TV Ontario (Canada) . The music was produced by Yōichirō Yoshikawa .

In Germany, the series was edited by Jürgen Voigt on ZDF and broadcast in 1989. The off-speaker was Klaus Eckert .
