Yōichirō Yoshikawa

Yōichirō Yoshikawa ( Japanese 吉川 洋 一郎 , Yoshikawa Yōichirō ; born October 8, 1957 in Sakaide , Kagawa Prefecture ) is a Japanese composer and film producer .

Yoshikawa graduated from Tsukuba University with a degree in science . During this time he became a member of the internationally known Butoh dance group Sankai Juku in 1980 at the latest, for which he has been composing music since 1982. After completing his studies, he was keyboardist in the rock band Yapoos ( ヤ プ ー ズ , Yapūzu ) from 1985 to 1993 . He also worked as a solo artist. In this capacity, the film music for the documentary series Wonderful Planet ( Chikyū Daikikō ) of the NHK from 1987, which is broadcast in 14 countries, was one of his internationally best known works.
