Wurm Online is a sandbox MMORPG from the Swedish development team OneTooFree AB. The computer game is developed in the Java programming language . It offers both a free play option with limited skills of the character and a paid premium account . Within the game, it is possible to persistently change the landscape by digging and thus to realize large building projects, usually with a group of many players. Wurm Online has a first-person view implemented with the OpenGL API.

Wurm's combat system is tactical and strategic. Wurm also has detailed crafting skills. All objects, buildings and roads are made and built by players. The servers each represent a 256 square kilometer continent, between which the characters can also travel.

Community

Wurm has a small online community . Volunteers take on tasks in all areas of the game environment, the game master through to the client and server development.

Gameplay

The gameplay is reminiscent of pioneers in the Wild West. As a beginner, the first thing to do is to get food, improve your tools and build new ones and then maybe colonize your own piece of land. Alternatively, you can join a larger settlement and usually receive food and accommodation in return for work. You can teleport to other continents through portals, including one where PvP is allowed.

PvP

The extensive possibilities to design the game world also determine the conflicts in Wurm. The fortified settlements built by the players themselves are surrounded by high walls, defensive walls and watchtowers, which the opposing team must first overcome. Not only are combat skills decisive for the outcome of a conflict, but also manual skills, tactical and strategic considerations and teamwork.
