The Wylihof , also called Wilihof or Willihof, was built in 1575 by the town clerk Wernher Saler from Solothurn as a summer house on a square floor plan with a polygonal stair tower in the municipality of Deitingen .

history

The "Wile bei Luterbach", from which the name Wylihof is derived, is mentioned for the first time in a document from 1330 in connection with agriculture. However, it is possible that its existence dates back to the early Middle Ages . The current floor plan of the associated summer residence was built by Werner Saler. A farm continued to exist at the same time; 1624 about standing in a document of St. Ursus pin whose manorial he stood, the sentence: "And the interest is from the whole Hoff genant the Wylihoff". A stream section and sluice still exist in Wylihof Park from the 19th century, which were used for the turbine operation of the cement factory.

At the time of the patrician regime , Captain Johann Friederich Vigier von Steinbrugg acquired the building in 1679 and added two turrets to the west facade, which became the Türmlihaus . Wall decorations followed in the music room on the first floor around 1712, in the style of the Regency . In 1750 technical moats were dug ( moated castle ), but they no longer exist today.

In 1900 the building was renovated by Georgine Vigier-Kiefer, and supplemented by the construction of a washing / baking house and a gardener's house. The former washing and baking house is now used as a residential building. In the course of time, six rental apartments were built in the gardener's house. From 1940, Georgine Frey-de Vigier (1881–1962), a daughter of Robert de Vigier, the founder of the cement factory in Wylihof, widow of the mechanical engineer and Colonel Rudolf Frey, lived in the castle. Since then, Vigier Cement has had its headquarters with a direct rail connection in the Wylihof area, right at today's entrance. In 1964 the baroque palace was renovated by Ernst and Suzanne Hockenjos-Frey and again in 1991 by Jürg and Yvonne Hürlimann-Hockenjos, who had the house extensively rebuilt. Two apartments were created in the course of this construction work. Eight years later, the ground floor was converted into seminar rooms for the Hotel Park Forum Wylihof and inaugurated in 2003.

Over time, the baroque palace proved to be in need of renovation and has been subject to annually recurring renovation measures.
