XO-Planet is a German electronic band from Mainz .
history
In autumn 2016, Manja Kaletka and Goderic Northstar decided to incorporate their various musical influences into the XO-Planet project. The music of the Mainz synth-pop duo is made up of harder bass sounds paired with spherical synths that come from Goderic Northstar's pen, as well as Manja Kaletka's vocal color. In March 2017, they released their debut album Passengers on the Danse Macabre label , making it 9th in the German Alternative Charts.
Manja Kaletka has been a member of various bands such as
- the Essen formation Jesus on Extasy
- the British avant-garde music group Attrition
- the dark-wave legend 18 Summers
- the neoclassical band WeltenBrand from Liechtenstein
- the band Illuminate and
- the Mainz dark rock band Dark Diamonds .
Since 2008 she has been the singer with X-Perience .
Northstar learned to play the church organ in his childhood, later on guitar and bass. Inspired by artists from the early days of the electronic music scene such as Jean-Michel Jarre, Kraftwerk and Die Krupps , he began to be interested in electronic sounds. He experimented with analog synthesizers and produced his first electronic works. Other influences came from EBM combos such as Front 242 and Nitzer Ebb .
