X-Twin Sport

X-Twin is the brand name very smaller and lighter than ready-made models of remote-controlled electric aircraft sold. They are produced by the Chinese company Silverlit, which has its German headquarters in Nuremberg. They are classified in the group of slow flyers or park flyers.

concept

The mini models are available in various types of aircraft, from biplanes , monoplane to duck wing , have a wingspan of 20 to 30 cm and a flight weight of around 20 g. The drive takes place via two miniature electric motors which, with pusher propellers are fitted, fixed to the wings and speeds to 16,000 to 19,000 min -1 afford. The models consist mainly of a light, hardly breakable foam ( EPP ), the tail units partly made of very thin Depron . The models are Ready to Fly (RTF) and therefore do not require any handicrafts to prepare for the flight. Preferred flying areas are parks or gardens.

Control technology

It is controlled via a 2-channel proportional digital remote control, in the 27 MHz range, available in three preset channels (ABC), with seven levels of forward thrust and one control level each for left and right. The asynchronous speed control of the motors causes turns and high-altitude flight. The straight flight can be calibrated with a trim button.

Battery and charging technology

The remote control is powered by six AA batteries , which are used to charge the 3.7 V lithium polymer ( LiPo ) flight battery in the model using an integrated charging cable in the transmitter. The charging electronics automatically stop charging when the charge status is full. The flight battery is protected against total discharge by switching off during operation. The charging time takes about 20-30 minutes, the flight time is 10-15 minutes.

Minimum age

The minimum age recommended by the manufacturer is eight years, although the level of difficulty is heavily dependent on the wind due to the very low weight. When there is no wind or only slight air movements, the flight models can also be easily controlled by children.
