Xenos Verlagsgesellschaft mbH is a German children's and youth book publisher from Hamburg .

Publishing history

Erwin Heimberger founded Xenos Verlag in 1975. Initially, the company concentrated on books for major customers, then it developed more and more into a publisher for children's and youth literature with a focus on products for schools and kindergartens .

From 1985 to autumn 2006 the publishing house belonged to the FAZ Buch- und Zeitschriftenverlag , after which it was taken over by the Friedrich Oetinger publishing group . Today the Xenos Verlagsgesellschaft mainly publishes learning aids for preschool and elementary school children, audio books , child-friendly non - fiction books , coloring and children's books. Popular figures include the tiger and bear by Janosch , the little polar bear and the mouse .

After long-time publishing director Björn Heimberger left the company, a trio took over the management from 2008. Alexander Yurik Koepp was commercial director, Jürgen Hubounig was in charge of marketing and sales, and Trudy Stange-Motzkau was in charge of program management.

In 2011 the Xenos Verlagsgesellschaft was sold to Carlsen Verlag and affiliated to its Imprint Nelson Verlag.
