XiaoXiao

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

XiaoXiao ( Chinese  小小 , Pinyin xiǎo xiao ) is a Flash series that has been developed by a Chinese artist named Zhu Zhiqiang (* 1976) since 2001. In this series, a black stick figure (XiaoXiao) fights against a blue / purple stick figure called "BOSS" after having fought his way through several opponents in each animation. BOSS controls the opposing stick figure hordes and mostly there is a final battle with him.

background

"XiaoXiao" is literally the word for "small" repeated twice in Chinese; here this repetition suggests a loving diminutive . Every XiaoXiao film is given a Chinese title with the adjective "XiaoXiao" preceded by a descriptive noun phrase . Xiao Xiao # 1 was originally titled "XiaoXiao Zuo Pin", "a bit of creative work". Since then, every XiaoXiao movie has had a different noun - # 4 is titled "Little Sheriff" and # 7 is titled "Short Film".

Xiao usually only differentiates from his opponents through different colors.

Other Flash animators have picked up on Xiao's popularity and produced games and films featuring XiaoXiao.

Copyright infringement

In June 2004, Zhu sued Nike for infringing his copyrights on stick figures in Nike commercials . Nike representatives rejected the claim on the grounds that the stick figures were not original and were therefore in the public domain . However, Zhu won the trial, and Nike was sentenced to pay the draftsman 300,000 yuan .
