Xie Nanxing

Xie Nanxing (* 1970 in Chongqing ) is a Chinese artist.

Life

Xie Nanxing was born in Chongqing in 1970. He studied at the Sichuan Art College until 1993 . He became known to a larger audience at the 48th Venice Biennale in 1999. Xie lives and works in Beijing and Chengdu .

Xie works mostly with painting. His works are based on blurred or overexposed photos that he finds in newspapers or on television and translates into painting. He applies the colors in several thin layers so that the impression of space and depth is created.
