Xie Zongxiang
Xie Zongxiang ( Chinese 谢宗祥 , Pinyin Xiè Zōngxiáng ; * in July 1852 in Fuzhou in the Fujian Province , Chinese Empire ; † in February 1930 ) or Ryū Ryū Ko was a Chinese master of the martial art of the screaming crane ( Chinese 鸣鹤 , Pinyin míng hè ), a variant of white crane boxing . Whether Xie Zongxiang and Ryū Ryū Ko are the same person is debatable.
Xie Zongxiang's teacher was Grand Master Pan Yuba (潘 屿 八), who was famous as a representative of the screaming crane . Grandmaster Pan Yuba first learned luohan boxing ( Chinese 罗汉拳 ), then white crane boxing . The screaming crane style was created by combining luohan boxing with white crane boxing . Both Higaonna Kanryō and his student Miyagi Chōjun , the founder of the Gōjū-Ryū karate style, had learned from Master Xie Zongxiang.
