Yōichi Motohashi

Yōichi Motohashi ( Japanese 本 橋 洋 一 , Motohashi Yōichi ; * February 21, 1944 ) is a Japanese mathematician who deals with analytical number theory. He is a professor at Nihon University in Tokyo.

Life

Motohashi graduated from Kyoto University in 1966 with a degree in mathematics , where he received his doctorate in 1974.

Motohashi is particularly concerned with the Riemann zeta function and worked with Matti Jutila and with Dan Goldston , János Pintz and Cem Yildirim on the simplification of the proof of their theorem about the asymptotic distance of successive prime numbers.

He is an external member of the Finnish Academy of Sciences and an honorary doctorate from the University of Turku .
