YUP (Yhdistyneet Urbaanit Puoskarit) is a Finnish rock band from Savonlinna .

Band history

YUP was founded in 1987 under the name YUP, Young Urban Perverts by Jarkko Martikainen, Valtteri Tynkkynen and Jussi Hyyrynen, three students from the Savonlinna School of Art. In 1990 the three released their first album The Hippos from Hell in self-distribution. The style at that time was based on hardcore punk , the lyrics were political and also in English. Finnish was sung on her later releases.

In 1992 the band got a fourth member with Tommi Kärkkäinen on the keyboard. A short time later, after the release of the single Daavidin fuzz / Paratiisin sahakielet , Jussi Hyyrynen switched from drums to guitar, which is why a new drummer was added with Janne Mannonen. In 1994 Kärkkäinen left the band again to concentrate on classical music. His replacement was Petri Tiainen. The band's line-up hasn't changed since then.

In early 2009 the band announced that they would be on hiatus indefinitely.
