Yasar Kurt

Yaşar Kurt (born August 16, 1968 in Istanbul ) is a Turkish rock musician of Armenian descent.

Life

Kurt studied at the Eskişehir University Faculty of Economics in 1990 and founded the alternative music group Beyaz Yunus ("White Dolphin"). In 1993 he had his first studio recording in Germany and in 1994 he released the album Sokak Şarkıları (“Street Songs ”), recorded in Cologne . The album on the Ada Müzik label was followed by a series of concerts in Turkey. After moving to Berlin , his daughter was born. He returned to Turkey in 1996 to continue his music career.

Göndermeler (" Allusions ") was released in 1997 as an album on the labels Aks Müzik and Boğaziçi Müzik. He then published Reflex , which was produced by Ağdaş Müzik and contains nine songs from the period 1990-2000 and three cover versions. In 2003 he released a scrapbook titled Anne under his own music label. In the same year he co-founded Barışarock, a rock event in Turkey. In 2004 he wrote the music for the television series Sevda Tepesi on ATV .

From 2007 he worked with the Armenian-Turkish artist Arto Tunçboyacıyan , with whom he founded Yash-ar (formed from his and Arto's first names). After returning to his Armenian origins, he was baptized as an Armenian Apostolic Christian and took the Armenian name Arşak. In 2011 Kurt released the album Güneş Kokusu ("Smell of the Sun").
