Yaba Angelosi

Yaba Angelosi is the stage name of Angelo Maku (born February 23, 1986 ) is a "South Sudanese American" American singer, songwriter , music and film producer and entertainer of South Sudanese origin. He is the founder of the production companies Assida Records and Assida Films . It is particularly popular in Africa and in the South Sudanese diaspora communities in the United States , Canada, and Europe .

Life

Yaba Angelosi was the eldest son in the family. He had seven siblings. He was born in a small town near Juba , South Sudan . The family immigrated to the United States in 2000 and Yaba has been an artist ever since. He sings, plays guitar, bass, piano and drums.

Angelosi's music mixes African traditional sounds with Western dance music and uses modern instrumentation and arrangements. He has performed internationally, including in the White House , during the Celebrations for the Comprehensive Peace Accord for Sudan (CPA) in the District of Columbia . He supported the independence referendum in South Sudan in 2011 with a compilation “Time to Vote (Referendum)” in English and numerous local languages ​​and in collaboration with a number of South Sudanese artists and celebrities. He created a music video and in the same year he released the album Survivor with 18 tracks, on which “Time to Vote” can be heard. In 2012 he led a campaign against the trend in some African communities to bleach the skin. He also released the single "Black Is Beautiful".

Assida

Assida Productions is an independent production company founded by Yaba Angelosi and DJ Masta-J aka Morris in 2008. It was expanded to include the record label in 2011. Today there are the divisions Assida Productions, Assida Films, Assida Promotions, Assida Graphics and Assida TV. Assida Productions produces music for numerous artists: Meve Alange , Baf Jay , Slick Nick , OB MrRight , Mista D , O-Kays , Refugee Muziq , Ono-Lyrics , Habib Musica , Zaquan Sam , Sway , Tina Jibi , Adaway , John Taban , Amanie Illfated and others. Assida Records releases the music of Yaba Angelosi, Baf Jay and Josephine Sebit (also Meve Alange, Slick Nick, Flow Youngin ). Assida Films has presented several independent film projects and music videos (Meve Alange, Baf Jay, Slick Nick, Adaway , Sycologist , Tina Jibi, OB MrRight, V-Vesta , Lohan ).
