Yahya Elsaghe

Yahya Elsaghe (born June 23, 1960 in Nuremberg ) is an Australian-Swiss Germanist.

Life

Yahya Elsaghe studied classical and German philology in Zurich, Munich and Freiburg i. Br. And Basel and received his doctorate in 1990 from the University of Zurich . From 1989 to 1993 he was a research assistant there and in 1997 he received his habilitation there. From 1993 to 1995 he was a Research Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley and then a lecturer at the University of Queensland until 1999 . In 2000 Elsaghe was an SNSF professor at the University of Zurich.

Elsaghe has been full professor for modern German literature at the University of Bern since 2001 . In 1998, 2007 and 2014 he was a fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Berlin. From 2010 to 2013 he headed the SNSF project Identity Constructions in Max Frisch's Narrative .
