Yamakasi
Yamakasi (also spelled Jamakasi ) is the first parkour group around David Belle , which was formed in 1997. The founding members of the group at the time were nine young people from the suburbs of Paris:
- David Belle
- Sébastien Foucan
- Yann Hnautra
- Willam Belle
- Chau Belle-Dinh
- Charles Perrière
- Malik Diouf
- Guylain N'Guba-Boyeke
- Laurent Piemontesi
In February 1998, the Yamakasi group practically disbanded when Sébastien Foucan and David Belle left them. Nevertheless, the film Yamakasi - The Samurai of Modern Age was made in 2001 , which made the sport of parkour and with it the group Yamakasi known.
Due to the many artistic movements of the group, their type of movement is often referred to as L'Art du Déplacement . This can be understood as a middle ground between parkour and freerunning, which was mainly influenced by Sébastien Foucan , since the Yamakasi use some acrobatics and do not use parkour at all. This type of locomotion is now widely understood as the style of parkour and is also known as the Yamakasi style .
