Yamdena , also Jamdena or North Timor Laut , is the largest of the Indonesian Tanimbar Islands , on the southern edge of the Banda Sea and on the northern edge of the Arafura Sea .

Saumlaki at the southern end is the main town on the island. Yamdena is one of the South Moluccas . Administratively, Yamdena belongs to the government district ( Kabupaten ) Tanimbar Islands , Maluku Province .
Residents
Yamdena is traditionally spoken on the island . The island's residents are known for their traditional lifestyle, although Christianity is the island's main religion.
Culture
Woodcut art , goldsmithing and clothing in the traditional Ikat weaving style are the main sources of income.

Wild water buffalo , the tanimbar warbler ( Cettia carolinae ) and the tanimbar amethyst python live in the forests of the island .
