Yan An ( Chinese 闫 安 , Pinyin Yán Ān ; born January 12, 1993 in Beijing ) is a Chinese table tennis player . He won a gold medal in doubles at the Universiade .
Career
Yan learned table tennis from his father, who coaches the Beijing women's team. Yan achieved numerous international successes in the youth field.
He won six gold medals at the Asian youth championships: in 2007, 2008 and 2009 with the Chinese team, in 2007 in singles and in 2008 (with Li Muqiao) and 2009 (with Song Hongyuan) in doubles.
He won five titles at youth world championships. From 2007 to 2009 he won the team competition three times in a row with the Chinese team, he was double world champion in 2007 with Song Shichao and in 2008 with Song Hongyuan.
In 2011 he was nominated for the first time for the adult world championship , but only for the mixed competition. In 2013 he was represented in the individual and reached the quarter-finals.
In 2015 he took part in the World Championship, but was only allowed to compete in mixed. Here he reached the quarter-finals together with Wu Yang . After that he appeared less frequently internationally.
