Yang Xiaodu
Yang Xiaodu ( Chinese 杨晓 渡 , Pinyin Yáng Xiǎodù ; born October 1953 in Shanghai ) is a Chinese politician and since October 2017 a member of the 19th Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China and since March 2018 director of the National Supervisory Commission , which is part of the reform of the state organization im March 2018 was newly founded and acts as an anti-corruption authority.
Career
Yang was born in Shanghai city in October 1953. He was sent to the country during the Cultural Revolution and lived in Taihe Township (Fuyang) in Anhui Province . In 1973 he joined the Chinese Communist Party . From 1974 to 1976 he studied at the Shanghai University of Traditional Medicine. He then began his professional career with a pharmaceutical company in the city of Nagqu in Tibet . Yang was named deputy commissioner of Nagqu in September 1986 and deputy party secretary of Qamdo City in December 1992, also in Tibet. In 1995, he assumed the post of Finance Director of Tibet Province. In 2001 he returned to his hometown Shanghai and became vice mayor. In October 2006, he was promoted to a member of the Shanghai City Party Committee. In May 2012, he became director of the Shanghai City Ministry of Disciplinary Oversight.
On December 25, 2016, Yang was appointed minister of the Ministry of Disciplinary Oversight. On March 18, 2018, Yang was elected director of the National Supervisory Commission. This commission was newly established at the 13th National People's Congress as part of the reform of the state organization. The commission represents a merger of various corruption authorities at the national level and is one of the highest internal control institutions of the Chinese Communist Party. However, the CCP's Central Disciplinary Commission remains in place and is rated higher than the newly established National Supervisory Commission. Yang is a member of the 19th Politburo of the Communist Party of China and vice-director of the Central Disciplinary Committee of the Communist Party of China , that he is a central figure in the anti-corruption campaign by Xi Jinping . Yang is considered an ally of President Xi Jinping.
